The KIKA laboratory building comprises a three-storey laboratory structure with twelve laboratory rooms and a four-storey administration structure (head-end structure). The new building stands on the site of the industrial estate Wolfgang in Hanau. The building is intended for the development of catalysts. On the upper floors of the head-end structure there are offices with kitchenettes, warehouses and storage rooms. There are meeting rooms on the ground floor and roof including roof terrace. Laboratory and office areas are separated from each other by an access zone. The access zone as well as the ground floor are optically separated from the office complex by a whole glass facade that is clad with a suspended fibre cement plate facade. The laboratory areas are characterised by horizontal ribbon windows with fibre cement cladding in the parapet areas and coloured full heating insulation.
